About Us

For two decades, Dirty Dog has welcomed countless wagging tails and smiling faces through our doors. Over time, a dream began to form in our hearts: to do more for Austin’s foster dogs—those waiting in loving, temporary homes until their forever families arrive. We wanted to help keep Austin a no-kill city, but we weren’t sure how to make the biggest impact. With limited extra funds at hand, we realized the true gift we could offer wasn’t money, but rather the skills, services, and joyful spirit that have guided us all these years.

That’s how Furry Foster Foundation came to be. By offering free (or very low-cost) services to foster families, we ease the financial strain and free them to concentrate on nurturing their foster dogs. And since we’ve always believed that community and connection happen best when people are having a good time, we host dog-friendly events that bring together animal lovers, raise much-needed funds, and celebrate the caring foster families who make our city shine. It’s our way of saying: we’re all in this together—helping more people open their homes, and more dogs find their places in the world.

We are currently in the process of registering for our 501(3)(c) status. Luckily for us, we can start our mission now while we wait!
